Happy Holidays!

As we gather with our families this holiday season, we at New England Pop Warner would like to give thanks to everyone in our Pop Warner families.  The children that are at the heart of everything we do, and the volunteers and members who give not only their time, but also their passion and never-ending dedication to this organization. Without your hard work, we would not be able to provide our young athletes with a memorable Pop Warner experience and share valuable lessons both on and off the field.

Christmas came early to many in our organization as 13 of our Cheer squads took 1st place honors at this year’s National Cheer Championships. With over 300 squads from across the country competing, New England was well represented and had a record amount of squads who placed this year. Congratulations to those teams and all the teams that competed this year. I was very proud of everyone; we are fortunate to have such wonderful and talented squads in our region.

On the football side, while a New England team did not win a Championship title, the teams that went down to Florida had a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not only did they compete at state-of-the-art facilities against the top teams from across the country, but their off-field adventures at Walt Disney World will be memories these youngsters will have forever.

So as our season and the year come to an end, I want to take the time to reflect on a truly memorable 2011. We hope you and your family enjoyed the 2011 season --we at New England Pop Warner can’t wait for the 2012 season to start! I wish everyone in the New England Pop Warner family a safe and happy holiday season and wonderful New Year.

Sincerely,
Al Perillo
New England Regional Director

NEW HAMPSHIRE:
New Hampshire Pop Warner held it's 3rd annual Scholastics Banquet on October 8th at the Executive Court in Manchester, NH. They are proud to announce they had 97 participants that qualified for Little Scholar status in New Hampshire this year. They awarded $11,000 in scholarships for the 2011 season, which brings the total to $41,000 in scholarships given over the three years the banquet has been held. Congratulations to all the NH Scholars!

RISMA:
On October 22nd, RISMA held a surprise flash mob during their conference Cheer & Dance Championships. Right after the national anthem, the zombie-themed flash mob that included twelve RISMA Association coordinators, began to dance and 25 dancers from the East Bay Warriors Pee Wee Dance Team and Just Dance in Warren joined in. The cheerleaders all loved seeing their coordinators out on the mats performing and it was a great way to start off the competition right before Halloween.

SOUTHERN & WESTERN CONNECTICUT:
On October 29th at the Connecticut State Cheer Competition, the Southern CT and Western CT leagues went PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness. The cheerleaders wore pink ribbons and shoelaces and onsite they sold sweatpants with pink ribbons with a portion of the sales benefiting the American Cancer Society. In October, Southern & Western CT Pop Warner Cheerleaders raise dover $10,000 for the cause.

OCEAN STATE:
On October 8th, OSPW held scrimmges during half-time of the Brown University vs. Holy Cross football game. We had 2 tiny Mite teams and 2 Mitey Mite teams battling on gridiron at Brown Stadium, an amazing experience for the kids. All coaches and players are received free tickets and the players had a meet and greet opportunity with the Brown team and coaches. It was great time for all the players and coaches.
