Christmas wishes

"I wish you and your family all the best for the festive season and hope that as you go about your own preparations for Christmas that you might pause (for just a moment!) and share a thought for people in need at this time of year."
Libby Craft, CEO

Welcome

A note from Chief Executive Officer, Libby Craft

Welcome to the first edition of our quarterly e-newsletter which will keep you regularly informed about what’s happening at UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide.

This year, our services have been at their busiest, rising to meet the increasing needs of people in our community. We have responded to 10,000 requests for emergency assistance, including food, blankets and clothes, which is a 30% increase from 2009.

This Christmas alone, we have distributed more than 500 food hampers to local families and individuals in need and brought smiles to the faces of over 600 children who have received a special hand-picked gift.

None of this would be possible without the dedication and commitment of staff and volunteers – thank you to all of you for your contribution to UCWPA. Special thanks also go to our donors and supporters including Gold Sponsors: Australian Executor Trustees and ETSA Utilities Employee Foundation.

Sharing joy

On Thursday 1st December we held the official launch of our annual Christmas Appeal. Local personalities including event emcee, Brenton Ragless from Channel 9; Deputy Mayor Claire Boan from the City of Port Adelaide Enfield; and key personnel from one of our partnering organisations, ETSA Utilities Employee Foundation, gathered at Target Fulham Gardens to celebrate the occasion. The very first food hamper was packed and shoppers joined with other donors to place gifts underneath the Christmas tree.
